Although Georgia experienced an 11% reduction in impaired driving fatalities in 2010, the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety (GOHS) is taking an extra step to ensure those statistics continue to fall.

In particular, GOHS wants to make sure revelers this New Year’s Eve arrive alive on the way home from their holiday festivities to ring in 2012.

Georgia State Troopers are joining law enforcement officers across the country for Operation Click It or Ticket to promote seat belt and child passenger safety for the holidays. 

The two-week enforcement wave began this morning and ends Sunday, November 27.  Law enforcement officers across the United States will be concentrating on seat belt and child restraint violations during patrols.

Average retail gasoline prices in Georgia have fallen 4.3 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $3.30/g yesterday.

This compares with the national average that has fallen 2.9 cents per gallon in the last week to $3.43/g, according to gasoline price website GeorgiaGasPrices.com.

Including the change in gas prices in Georgia during the past week, prices yesterday were 60.2 cents per gallon higher than the same day one year ago and are 7.4 cents per gallon higher than a month ago.

Average retail gasoline prices in Georgia have fallen 3.5 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $3.35/g yesterday. This compares with the national average that has fallen 0.6 cents per gallon in the last week to $3.46/g, according to gasoline price website GeorgiaGasPrices.com.

Including the change in gas prices in Georgia during the past week, prices yesterday were 71.6 cents per gallon higher than the same day one year ago and are 8.4 cents per gallon higher than a month ago.
