This event is free of charge. Everyone is asked to bring their own camera.

CORDELE, GA – There will be a Red Cross Blood Drive Tuesday, December 11 from 1 p.m. – 6 p.m. at the Cordele Community Clubhouse.

This Red Cross Blood Drive is being sponsored by the Cordele Main Street Committee.

October unemployment rate for Crisp County

CRISP COUNTY, GA - The Georgia Department of Labor announced Thursday that Southwest Georgia's preliminary unemployment rate declined to 8.9 percent in October.

That is one-tenth of a percentage point from the 9 percent in September and in October 2011 the rate was 9.7 percent.

Georgia's October seasonally adjusted unemployment rate declined to 8.7 percent, which was down three-tenths of a percentage point from the September rate of 9 percent. The October 2011 jobless rate was 9.7 percent.

Open registration for 2013 SGTC Spring Semester

CRISP and SUMTER COUNTIES, GA – South Georgia Technical College will host their Spring semester 2013 registration and orientation Tuesday, November 13.

Spring Semester classes begin Monday, January 7 and all students are urged to apply and register. South Georgia Technical College will provide books at no cost to students again for Spring Semester.

Registration and orientation will be held at 9:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m., and 5:30 p.m., in Americus and at 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. in Cordele Tuesday, November 13.

CRISP and SUMTER, COUNTIES, GA - South Georgia Technical College signed a memorandum of agreement with Triad International Maintenance Corporation (TIMCO).

TIMCO is one of the world’s largest independent aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul providers, supporting leading global airlines, governments and aircraft leasing companies with comprehensive aircraft care services.

September unemployment rate for Crisp County

CRISP COUNTY, GA – The Georgia Department of Labor announced Thursday that the preliminary unemployment rate in the Southwest Georgia area declined to 9.0 percent in September.

The rate declined primarily because there were 370 fewer layoffs in manufacturing, construction, retail trade, transportation and warehousing, administrative and support services, and accommodations and food services, plus 1,037 more people were employed.

The September unemployment rate for Crisp County it is 12.5 percent.
