State drug helicopters search Sumter County

People in Sumter County residents may have noticed a lot of helicopters in the air Tuesday.The Governor's task force was there trying to spot drugs from the sky. 

Streaking Cougars host Allatoona in 2nd round

CORDELE, GA-  

Round two of the Georgia High School Association baseball state playoffs is Wednesday.

In Cordele, Crisp County will host Allatoona in AAA playoffs.

The Cougars are not only chasing a state baseball title.

They are also chasing perfection.

Crisp County is 27-0 and has won 25 straight region games.

Head coach Bill Pate says the strength of this team is pitching.

The starting staff is led by Davis Adkins, Robert Tyler and freshman Stewart Tyler.

Burglar hits Cordele pharmacy

CORDELE, GA- Cordele Police are looking for a burglar who robbed a pharmacy.

Officers responded to an activated alarm at the U-Save-It Pharmacy on Fourth Avenue around 1:30 Friday Morning.

They found the back door had been forced open.

Detectives say the burglars stole drugs.

Pharmacy employees are conducting an inventory to find out exactly what was stolen.

If you have any information on the crime or saw anything suspicious around that time, you are asked to call Cordele Police at 273-3102.

 

Burglars steal drugs from pharmacy

CORDELE, GA- Cordele police are continuing their investigation into the early Friday morning burglary of a local pharmacy.

Uniformed officers sped to U-Save-It Pharmacy located at 405 Fourth Ave. E. shortly after 1:30 a.m. Officers found the back door forced open to gain entry.

Police say drugs were stolen. Anyone having information about the crime is asked to contact Cordele police immediately.

Murder victim's family speaks out

CORDELE, GA- The parents of a 16 year old boy who was stabbed to death over the weekend are speaking out.

Their son, Andrew Ford, was stabbed multiple times near the clubhouse at Rosewood Estates in Cordele.

Although police have not released a motive, Ford's parents think their son was killed in a disagreement over a cell phone.

Arrest Made in Cordele Stabbing

CORDELE, GA- 26-year-old Michael Davis Jr. has been charged with felony murder and aggravated assault.

Investigators say Davis is accused of stabbing Andrew Ford to death near the club house at Rosewood Estates in Cordele.

Davis was taken into custody Saturday after evidence led investigators to him.

The GBI is assisting Cordele Police in this case and a motive has not been determined.

March unemployment rate for Crisp County

CRISP COUNTY, GA - The Georgia Department of Labor announced Thursday that the preliminary unemployment rate in the Southwest Georgia area declined to 9.0 percent in March.

The jobless rate in the Southwest Georgia area in March a year ago was 9.8 percent.

The March unemployment rate for Crisp County is 11.8 percent
