CRISP and SUMTER, COUNTIES, GA - South Georgia Technical College signed a memorandum of agreement with Triad International Maintenance Corporation (TIMCO).

TIMCO is one of the world’s largest independent aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul providers, supporting leading global airlines, governments and aircraft leasing companies with comprehensive aircraft care services.

“This partnership provides a win-win opportunity for all involved. This agreement will allow our students to earn wages while gaining valuable work-based experience that will count toward completing their college diploma. TIMCO benefits from receiving a skilled pool of aerospace maintenance and structural workers,” said South Georgia Technical College President Sparky Reeves.

South Georgia Technical College signed a cooperative educational and work experience (Co-op) memorandum of agreement with Triad International Maintenance Corporation (TIMCO) at a ceremony in Macon recently.

TIMCO is one of the world’s largest independent aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul providers, supporting leading global airlines, governments and aircraft leasing companies with comprehensive aircraft care services. TIMCO-Macon specializes in airframe MRO for narrow body cargo and commercial aircraft.

This memorandum of agreement will provide eligible South Georgia Tech students with the opportunity to participate in a cooperative educational program gaining supervised, hands-on work experience in repairs and inspections of commercial aircraft.

The Co-op program is currently open to students age 18 or older, seeking to become aircraft mechanics and who are currently enrolled in the South Georgia Technical College Airframe and Power Plant Program and/or Aircraft Structural Technology course of studies.

TIMCO benefits from receiving a skilled pool of aerospace maintenance and structural workers.” To become eligible, students must have participate in the DOT regulated Alcohol Misuse and Prevention and Anti-Drug programs which include drug and/or alcohol testing.

Students must have an initial set of basic mechanics tools per a list provided by TIMCO and must have completed the first three semester courses and successfully passed all required Aircraft Structural Technology courses while maintaining a B average or better.

Once admitted to the co-op program, students will be paid as an employee of TIMCO while completing specialized courses at South Georgia Technical College.

TIMCO also signed memorandum of agreement letters with officials from Central Georgia and Middle Georgia Technical Colleges and Middle Georgia College.
