SGTC hires new Diesel Equipment Technology instructor

CRISP amd SUMTER COUNTIES, GA - News release from South Georgia Technical College

Craig Kelly of Americus has been hired as the new South Georgia Technical College Diesel Equipment Technology instructor on the Americus campus, announced SGTC President Sparky Reeves recently.

Since 2008, Kelly had been employed as Lead Diesel Technician and Assistant Shop Manager at J and M Tank Lines, Inc.

He was also previously the Lead Diesel Technician at the Lee County Board of Education Transportation department, Inventory Control Assistant at Rix’s Snap-On Franchise, and Stockman at Star Racing.

Kelly is a graduate of South Georgia Technical College, having completed the Diesel Mechanics and Heavy Equipment Technology program and Commercial Truck Driving.

As a South Georgia Tech student, Kelly set himself apart from his classmates by participating in SkillsUSA national competitions two years in a row, as well as earning the Student of the Month title in April of 2004.

As Diesel Equipment Technology instructor, Kelly will direct the program and teach Diesel Equipment Technology.

He will select and adapt instructional materials, select and assess student learning outcomes, foster effective learning in both classroom and lab settings, and promote good public relations via contacts and regular communications with business, industry, and the public sector.

Kelly has a six year-old son, Adam, and is active in the community as a Cub Scout Leader for pack 21.
